A New Woman's Perspective

The sweltering room is dark, the only light coming from my pristine laptop. My eyes glaze over the history text in front of me, my mind a world away. Twilight 2011

On October 29, 2011, the Chorus continued its tradition of performing on First Year Parents’ Weekend with its annual Twilight Concert. To an enthusiastic throng of students, parents, alumnae, and members of the Cornell and Ithaca communities, the Chorus opened its concert with a Gregorian chant processional that established a clear, ethereal tone; we then went on to sing Michael Haydn’s traditional eighteenth-century “Kyrie,” followed by a more contemporary “Sanctus” composed by György Orbán. Retreat, as seen by a Freshman and a Senior

This September marked my final retreat with the Cornell University Chorus. Each year, retreat is an opportunity to learn about each other, musically and personally. Old friendships are strengthened and new ones begin to blossom. I could already tell that the new women were incredible, and I was itching to get to know them better! Continue to full article.


A Visit from the State Choir of Russia

This October the Chorus, in conjunction with the Glee Club, was extremely lucky to host the State Symphony Capella of Russia in concert in Sage Chapel. The resonant choir filled Sage Chapel with exquisite sound, tuning, and execution with excerpts from Rachmaninoff's Vespers, a few modern compositions, and fun, traditional Russian folk songs. After Eight Update

This semester After Eight welcomed five new members: Joanna Guy, ‘13, Isabella Ruof, ‘14, Kelly Wallace, ‘15, Krista Gaile, ‘15, and Anne Dickey, ‘15. At a full-sounding seventeen, we tackled a total of seven brand-new arrangements for our fall concert, Witching Hour. Continue to full article.
